Eph 3:20

This month at church we are studying the book of Ephesians so I thought I should use that as part of my reading time. Ehephians has many good verses and this one stood out to me because it is often taught but it never really sinks into my spirit...

"Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us!"

Wow, my God can do so much so much more x10000000000000000000000 more than what I can imagine my life to be! I am so often limited to my fears, and what my own natural eyes can see and therefore easily give up or feel helpless. God, on the other hand gives and does more than what we ask of him & it may not be what we envision it to be but if I step out in faith and not limit him in my box I'm sure what he does in my life definately goes beyond what I can imagine!

I know I have to keep putting my trust in God for the things that I do not yet see but know that it will come in his timing and even better!

Be happy think happy!

I deal with many customers on a daily basis at my work at the bank. I really enjoy the different cultures and ages that I talk to. The young ones teaches me about ambition and how they want to work and study so that they can get a job, the working ones reminds me of how they need to work in order to pay bills, support family and the more advanced in age often teach me about how life has changed so much over the years, and how they just simply enjoy the same simple routine everyday.

During my many interactions with the elderly customers, I ask one of the lady what makes them so energetic and healthy at the age of 90 (or if their over 70). I remember this lady telling me the key to her health and longevity is to be happy.

TO BE HAPPY....................

WOW

I just stood there shocked by how simple her answer was and yet it's so true! Being happy means we have a healthy heart, to live simply, to not bear grudges against others...

It reminded me of the verse

Proverbs 17:22 which says a cheerful heart is a good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.

So, I have to put in more effort to make sure that I am happy by examining my actions, and the things that goes on around me and weather they are neccessary to be "stressed" or worried about!

Transition

It's been awhile since I've last blogged about food, that's because I guess I've been away and living in my own world of transition.

It's been 2 weeks now that I know for sure we are leaving for Sydney. The decision making process, the worries and excitement were all hard to digest in the first few days. However, now it just feels like a long transition period of waiting...waiting to go there and get settled. I know I should enjoy this period of not worrying about being in a new place and getting to spend time with family & friends here.


Many doors were closed here and when the opportunity to move to Sydney for hubby's work came up it was a quick and peaceful decision...well it had to be quick anyway because hubby only had 4 days to decide!

During this I learnt and got reminded that

1) When God closes the doors I don't need to be dismay but to keep living and trust that he has the best time and season for us to live in as he knows best.

2) God never threw us into the deep end. When he asks us to step out onto the water, he just wants see our heart of surrender and our trust in him. Leaving Auckland is definately not easy for me as I've always been here, my childhood, my family, my friends, my church, my life. It seems easier to just stay where I feel comfortable. This is when my heart says it's time to step out and expand my territory!

3) When God moves and opens a door he moves fast,he won't wait around until we are ready to say yes or make our move...so don't miss the oportunity but in his peace take up the faith and GO!

4) He is more concern about us in the process of how we made the decision rather than the outcome.

I'm sure there are many more lessons learnt & will update on progress and updates on our move.

As for food and all, Sydney has so much more variety than in Auckland & not a surprise I've already sussed out most of the asian bakeries!

Another Classic Bakery opened

For those interested, there I just found out a new classic bakery opened around the corner by foodtown Dominion Road! I think it's along Valley Road at the end near the lights. They sell the same bakery as other Classic Bakery but has one or two items that are not found in the other shops.

Yay for more chinese bakeries but dangerous for my wallet =( I went in there and came out with 3 cakes that I have to now finish.....sigh

Talking about food....I was thinking about this verse and the word Yoke (relating to food) came to mind and I thought i'll just post it up.

Matthew 11:29-30

Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."

What does Yoke mean in this, why use yoke as an illustration?

“In Biblical times, the yoke was a device of great assistance to those who tilled the field. It allowed the strength of a second animal to linked and coupled with the strength of a single animal, sharing and reducing the heavy labor of the plow or wagon.

we're not made to run this race alone but to lean on Jesus's yoke and by being in relationship with him we know that he removes our sins that so easily entangles us and our burdens that weighs us down making life seem so complicated and heavy.

In the midst of all that is happening around the world

I am reminded of a few verses that I need at this time of uncertainty and fear on how natural diasters can hit anytime. The economic recession and global warming leading to many factors such as change in weather patterns, high sea level rising, earth quakes, cultural and economic changes affecting how people behave.

I go on to read about what Global warming is due to the fire in Victoria that has already seen 200 people dead, 700 houses destroyed. It reminded me of this verse:

Mat 6:19-21
"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.


Where is our hearts? What are we investing in? What are we more concern about? The things unseen or the things seen?
Am I investing into life things that will last after I'm gone from this earth?

I started to read into things that made me more worried and I felt nauseated and wanted to puke it out. I decided to move my thoughts and my confusion and fear to the word of the living God, the one that knows it all and has the final say. I can let fear and uncertainty rule me, or I can let the peace and love of God cover me in my thoughts and my heart.
Scientists can say all they want about how the earth is changing and have many theologies and seems real and the earth will forever be evolving, but Hebrews 13:8 says that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever!

Like what Pastor Paul preached about at church last sunday night: Have I fought the good fight, finish the race and kept the faith?

Despite what goes on the world

Just a few thoughts about how the world seems like it's crashing.

Financial institutions crashing
Crazy gunman shooting students in schools
Politicians all debating and focusing on minor and immature issues
Fuel, house and food prices going insane
and the list goes on and on

So...it's quite a thought to think about how even though we are going through all these things on earth...there is the stability of God's world.

His word says that he NEVER changes, he stays the same yesterday, today and FOREVER. Hmmm so even if the world goes haywire I know I need to keep my focus on what God says in his word and in WHO HE IS. The way God's world operates is truly different to how the human world operates. Where there is lack of money because of inflation and all the turmoil on earth, it should not translate and affect how we live for God for his ways and understandings are WAY higher than ours.

It's something that definately keeps me fearful - what happens around the world makes me scared....I have no doubt about that BUT I know that MY GOD is BIGGER than all that and like Psalm 112:1 says Blessed are those who fear the Lord, who greatly delights in his commandments.

I always have to remind myself : instead of "worrying" why not divert my thoughts and energy into who God says he is and that he delivers the righteous.

Lukewarm

Have you ever had food serve to you before and you bite into it and it tasted COLD but worst LUKEWARM??? It's like eating into a hot pie or quiche and some parts are HOT but yet some parts are COLD and it just puts you off your apetite?

I had an experience once when I was eating a kebab and I like it really really HOT. I got it and the first bite was just warm and I thought ok lets keep eating it..it is probably hot in the middle. Guess what? It wasn't. It was even getting colder and I just wanted to puke it out! I was going to ask for a new one but instead returned the kebab asking them to reheat it.

I just thought WOW what a demonstration of what REVELATIONS 3:15 says about how God would rather us be HOT COLD but not LUKEWARM! He spits those that are lukewarms out of his mouth! It's like...ok so I understand more how he feels regarding how I dislike lukewarm food in my mouth! How can things be heated up half way or half done? You would rather have it done properly or not done at all.

BUT God is gracious and amazing and he waits for us to open our hearts to him. Those who draws near to God he will draw near to us. James 4:8

So my desire is to be HOT! Needs work but yes that's part of life but it's all worth it in the end. It's like eating a really nice dish that satisfy your tummy and leaving you feeling wow I want more and would go back again.

In the afternoon I made a moist chocolate cake for Marc to bring into work tomorrow for his 1 yr annivesary at work! I can't believe how time flies so fast! I love the part where I scrap the left over chocolate mixture!


I know the cake does not look that appealing but it smelt so GOOD and I wanted to eat it but I had to resist it!!! However, a little bit of the side fell off so I did try abit ;)

Food for thought

Food for thought:

What we feed into our lives is what we will produce and get out of our live.

Who am I allowing to feed into my life? Who do I look at and go...wow I want to learn from her and become more like the woman God has created me to be.

What words am I letting into my life? Am I going to let words of doubts, fear and negativity restrict my life and pull me down or am I going to be around like minded people who will sharpen and build me up? Am I letting what God says in his word shape me or am I letting the fear of men shape me?

To be able to love and help someone else I need to be in shape to be able to do that. Why is it so hard sometimes to look after my heart but without looking after my heart I am only not giving my all.

Thoughts

God works in mysterious ways and it's amazing how when we take the time to share and talk to others that God reveals things to us. Some of the things I've learnt or am reminded of tonight...

1) Do not compare what other people are going thru with what I'm going thru because we are all called to different paths. I have my own race to run

2) Whatever I am going thru, nothing can COMPARE to what Jesus went through on the cross. He died and shed his blood for ALL. He didnt have to but he did, he sacrificed himself to save the world.

3) When I keep postponing the promtings from the Holy Spirit, I will find myself not being able to hear God's voice clearly because I have distant myself as well as put other clutter in between.

4) I am put on earth as a vessel for him, an instrument to be used by him. So no matter where I am, what I'm doing I need to remind myself that I am doing it unto the Lord

5) What he gives he can take away. When he blesses me financially or with relationships or with resources..it is my responsibility to make full use of it because it belongs to God, not me. What he gives he can take away.

6) Men can fail us but God's love will always be there, his word stays the same now and forever

7) Seeds that we sow today may not be seen, but goes towards eternal fruits therefore do not be discourage at the seeds we sow but do not see the harvest in our time.

HoPe

What does it mean to place hope in something?

Dictionary states that it is the feeling that it is a feeling of what is wanted, can be had or that events will turn out for the best.
As a verb it is to look forward to with desire and reasonable confidence, to believe, desire, or trust.

So by placing our hope on the Lord is placing our trusts in him and believe and have confidence that the the outcomes will be the best.

Psalm 33:18-22


The eyes of the Lord are on those who FEAR him,
On those whose HOPE is in his UNFAILING LOVE
Wait in HOPE for the Lord
he is our HELP and our SHIELD
In him our hearts rejoice as we TRUST in his holy name


To have faith and believe in the power of God's name that what he says in his word is true and as I place my TRUST and depend on his name and unfailing love my heart will rejoice as an outcome. His name holds power and so many attributes as shown in his word. Jesus name heals, sets people free, = life hope love faith and the list goes on...

It's so hard to trust sometimes especially when the circumstances around us seems so dim and so hard to comprehend. Yes God's understanding and ways are definately much higher and his timing is always right but in the midst of what we go through we often get confused because we want things to happen right now and quick! Hence that's what I feel means to "wait" on the Lord. Not to rush things or expect a quick fix but to wait and trust the Lord.

I know I have to learn to trust the Lord more and to know in my heart that in his unfailing love he has everything under control.
To keep HOPING and placing my trust in the dreams that he has install for us.

Whats in my hands

During my time away, God has been revealing many things to me about life. So many things are happening around the world - the flood in China, America, and India, the politicians and how corrupted they are, the increase of crime and petrol and food prices, and how life is so fragile and unexpected.

Fear and uncertainty creeps up. So many questions I want to ask but know that it can't be answered. Life is definately short, we are put on earth for a reason, What God creates he can take away, we are only temporary beings on earth..how then am I making full use of what I'm on earth for? How much more time do I have before I am called to go home to God? What matters in my life?? What is in my hands that I can use to leave a legacy behind? What is my attitude like and how am I treating the ones around me? It is so easy to love the loveable but how hard it is to love those that hurt others? That's when I need God to show me because God is LOVE and Perfect Love casts out Fear! When I walk in Love and bring that to the ones that needs it there will be no harm or danger because God's love protects!

Ephesians 4:28 - Doing something useful with my hands that I can share with those in need
Ephesians 5:15-21 - Making wise choices out of every opportunity because the days are evil.

So what am I doing and waiting for. Use what God has given me..what's in my house?

Organisational Rhythm

At church tonight Pastor Paul shared about being in rhythm and how having the rhythm will help us focus and stay on course on our mission.

He shared about how momentum is the outcome of both the acceptance of the mission and the degree of rhythm attained throughout the team.

Resetting Rhythm

1) Live with clarified purpose
2 Tim 1:8-13
2) Have an intentional focus
3) Committed in spirit

I thought this was quite cool: if we don't deal with our disappointments, it will become discouragement and if we don't deal with discouragement it becomes disengagement.

An unchecked environment reveals what is in our spirit.

Deep...very cool thought about how in our lives, in our church to keep that rhythm going we need to think about the above points. It is what keeps us going.

Beautiful

I just thought of spending time this morning admiring the beautiful things that is around us. God is so beautiful, simple and everything about him is about beauty!One of my favourite books Captivating shares about how we as females are created to show off his beauty and how we should be treated as his daughters!

The picture of the fallen leaves was taken while walking to church one Sunday and it was such a beautiful day with the peaceful slience around me. I walked through the leaves kicking them as I stepped on them admiring the beautiful colours and how it contrasted with the road, the houses, the trees.



As I'm writing this, a very old but good song popped into my head :

Something beautiful,
Something good.
All my confusion he understood
All I have to offer him was brokennes and strive
But he made something
Beautiful of my life

This song reminds me of how God does not look at our brokenness and how weak we are. In fact he uses our weaknesses and mould us into his image - Beauty. How awesome is he that even though we as humans are not worthy he loves us so much that he wants us to become something he intended us to be!

Kingdom Heaven Keys

Today was my last day of work before I go for my 3 weeks holiday to Hong Kong and Malaysia. I am so looking forward to it.

I went for a foot reflexology at Sante Spa today because I needed a massage so badly. The lady who massaged me spent more time on my shoulders and neck because she could feel lots of tension there and told me I should have done a body massage instead! After that massage I honestly felt like I could do with so much more!

After massage went home and prepared mee rebus for dinner. I just used one of those prima premade sauces and bought fresh noodles and bean spouts. It was a quick and delicious meal just before going to life group.

Life group...didn't feel like going at all but after praying for a friend of mine on the phone prior to preparing dinner I felt so much better. I was reminded of how Satan wants to STEAL KILL AND DESTROY us and rob us of our joy, our future and our relationships! Satan always uses the same old tricks in his book and we always fall for it. It's so true though how Satan uses the things that we are weak in and we know in our spirit that it's not right but we still fall into it. It is definately a choice that we have to make to step into the spirit man and flee from temptation!

So...I went to life group and there were only a few of us - the smallest in numbers I've ever been to. It was good - small and intimate. We talked about Pastor Paul's sermon on the key of commitment to multiplication.

The scripture reference was based on the talents Mat 25:14-30 on how the ones that were given the talents went out to trade to gain more and the one that did not was lazy and did not use what was given to him to multiply.

Multiplication based on 4 keys:

1) Identifying and value the gifts that we have
- Need to stir up the gifts within us and be BOLD and use it to build God's kingdom.
2) Invest beyond self
- By focusing on what GOd wants, we will be fruitful and there will be discord and confusion
3) Need to empower and increase through hard work
- Need to put in the hard work and glorify God through our hands
- Bringing the Kingdom of Heaven down to Earth
4) Make decisions of completion
- Finishing what we begin, marriage, work, writing, and just being discipline in what God has called us to start.

life

Today I had a good catch up over breakfast with my friend. Went to this place called Brown Sugar Kitchen which has change their name to The Cake Shop along Royal Oak and had my usual date orange scone and mocchacino. Talking to her reminded me of how much Satan wants to rob of us our joy and our future by reminding us of our past and making us feel like we have no way out!

But praise God Jesus already paid for all at the cross ONCE and FOR ALL!!! We have that hope and faith to step out and to live a life that is abundant and victorious!

While talking to her my ex work mate text me to let me know one of the guys that used to work with us was stabbed to death while in Thailand. I have no idea why he got stabbed but tomorrow there will be a memorial for him at work and I guess i'll find out then. He was a good guy. Good heart. Good personality. Good friend. To think that I had all the time to share with him the gospel...to think that just because I work with him there is always an opportunity to share with him about God. Too late. He is gone. Cant turn back time.

An Indian national was stabbed to death in a popular Thai coastal resort here.

Chetan Dhadwal, 24, was trying to intervene in a fight yesterday during the famous Full Moon party at a beach in Koh Phangan in Surat Thani province, south of Bangkok.

The Indian embassy has been informed of the incident.

Embassy sources told UNI that the victim's relatives were informed and they were coming to Thailand. This is the latest incident of violence against foreign visitors to the country where tourism is the main foreign exchange earner, leading to expressions of concern by the government.

Last week, 27-year-old Swedish tourist Hannah Charlotte Bankluns was stabbed to death on a beach in Phuket.

The incident has shocked the Thai tourism industry, which is demanding stepped-up security for visitors.


Life is short, unexpected. Treasure each moment, what we have and who we have. So much to learn about Life...

Oh...something I thought is quite cool though : The Largest room is the world is room for improvement. So much in my life I know that I need to constantly improve...


Improvements include cooking and trying new recipies so because my cousin coming over tonight i shall attempt to try some simple dishes and hopefully it looks like this: Got this from Aromacookery's site...going to cook japanese soy sauce chicken too hope it turns out alright haha

To be more Christlike

It's nothing new but today just seems to be like a revelation to me haha. To become like someone we need to spend more time with them! Hence...to become like Christ we need to spend more time with him in his word, in prayers, in fellowship with others that are Christ like!!!

I want to have God rub off on me!!! I want to live more in the spirit and to walk in his power that lives in me!

Got to share this sermon that Paster Maree shared on Sunday 16th of March. I cried during the service it was so good.

Limitations of trapped unresolved hurts

We have the power to choose to walk and apply the spirit that lives within us by the power of Jesus Christ!!

Gal 5 : Living by the spirit

What happens when we have trapped hurts:

1) Our spikes goes out

We become defensive, harsh and say the wrong words to put people down
What comes out of our mouth is released in our hearts – we say words that will hurt.

Mat 12:34, Pro 4:23, Pro 15:4, Psalm 141:3

2) Our fences goes up

We fence ourselves up and keep others out and they are not able to relate to us
Fear: We have the feeling of something unpleasant may happen. We become suspicious of why others want to talk to us
Mat 4:21, Pro 15:13

3) Our spirit withers and we shrink

We live very small on the inside and it can get very comfortable there.
Jesus did not make us live small but tall standing oak trees!!
Isaiah 61:3 - we are called to display his splendor

We can't bear fruits and reproduce in the small place we are in
Pro 15:13 - A happy heart makes the face cheerful, but heartache crushes the spirit
(so have to guard and take care of our tender hearts huh!!)

God wants to tap into our other potentials in our other rooms that we have in our BIG mansion as they are being dusty.
Eph 3:14-21

A song that I used to sing in Sunday School : My God is so BIG so STRONG and so MIGHTY that's nothing my God cannot do. That's TRUE!
Sunday school does play a big part. Its actually little seeds that was sown in our lives but at that time it seemed like just words that came out of our mouths!
