Another special dish here is thier sarawak laksa. It is very different to the curry style or penang assam laksa. This laksa has a spicy coconut prawn paste-based broth served with rice vermicelli, egg, prawn, chicken, deep fried tofu. I like this laksa as it tasted like mee siam but with more soup/gravy!
Funny enough, most of the hawkers we went to did not sell any teh/tea or coffee. It's quite strange because everywhere we ate in KL/Singapore you can always have your teh beng/ ice coffee etc but not in many places here in Kuching. So I ordered another drink that I saw on Kenny sia's blog called white lady. This drink usually consists of evaporated milk and a syrup base with fruit and a slice of lemon within. The colors vary from yellow to pink.
It is so hard to find a good cup of teh or coffee because they seem to be very diluted! I wanted to try the special teh c beng ever since I knew I was coming to Kuching - It is a 3 layer tea with gula melaka (brown sugar syrup) at the bottom, evaporated milk in the middle and tea at the top! This was a yummy drink and is a must try! Apparently there is also a 5 layer tea with pandan and cicau (jelly). Here is a cup of teh c special just before I left for the airport.
So in just less than 2 days here in Kuching, I found out that indeed it's full of cats as Kuching is known as a cat city. There are lots of kolo mee around and a must try is the teh si special, thier laksa and kolo mee and a few other dishes that I wanted to try but no time or can't find it such as tomato kuey tiew!!! boo hoo =(

I'm actually addicted to the 3-layer tea! Anyway, there is a place that sells tomato kueh tiew in Auckland but not as good as the one in Kuching. =)
Aiya!! Then should have asked u where to go because we went to places we found on the blog but didnt end up going...I love 3 layer tea too!!! YUM YUM no where makes it here right????
